Everyone deals with a certain amount of faith and fear in their life. The question is which one are you feeding?
The reality is the one you dwell on the most is the one you feed and it's alive and well in your life.
In this episode I am going to share with you a few practical ways you can start to feed your faith so your fears will finally starve to death….
If you're someone that has struggled to get off the fear train for far too long, It's time to start taking control of your thoughts, your actions and your future.
How to Feed Your Faith & Starve Your Fears
What is Faith?
“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:1
Faith moving forward with certainty and hope even though we can't see everything that's ahead. It's a lot like driving at night. We can only see a few hundred feet in front of us, but that doesn't stop us from moving forward. We have a trust that the headlights will guide us.
We need that same trust over our lives. It's starts with actually believing in something bigger than yourself to help carry you ahead.
Here are some practical ways to move out of fear and into faith….
How Do I Starve My Fears?
~Decide you don't want to stay where you are. Never let fears decide your future.
~Have an attitude of gratitude. It all starts with being thankful with where you're at and reflecting on how far you've come. There is always going to be a desire to want more, but we still have to appreciate what we have.
~Focus on what your creator thinks vs. what people think. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. You have something special to offer. Are you using those gifts?
~You must persist even when you don't feel like it. We are too quick to turn our mind, calendars and circumstances over to our emotions. Emotion will steer you wrong every time. You must learn to press on even when your emotions tell you otherwise.
What are you expecting God to do in your life?
Are you allowing your fear or your faith control your actions and decisions?
How to Feed Your Faith
~Have a quiet time every morning. It can be 15 minutes or an hour, but it's crucial to start forming this habit.
~Take control of your thoughts and start to reprogram them. As you think of the fear, reverse the thought and now change the thought to be more of faith. I love using a devotional book for this. They are quick reads and if my mind tends to go in the wrong direction, I have something to lean on that I can quickly turn to to keep reprogramming my mind.
~Be thankful for what's coming. Don't wait for the result to be thankful. Give thanks for it in advance. You'll always receive and answer. Whether it's yes, no, not yet, or still have some growing to do, give thanks no matter what. We trust the process, we trust the answer. That's part of having faith.
~Pray about it. God knows your fears, but you must lay them at his feet. He can't go to work on something you are holding on to so tightly. Stop carrying a heavy load. You were meant to live a self-managed life. If you have been self managing your own ship, trying to keep it all under control on your own, that's a tall order. There's a good chance you're on the verge of burnout.
Do you know someone that is really struggling with moving out of fear and into faith? Do them a solid and share this with them.
You have to make a conscious effort to start neglecting your fears. It's easy to let fears fester. Soon they become so much bigger than we ever imagined. We start to exaggerate them, start to have negative self reflection and even start to project them onto others.
That's when it's easy to become paralyzed by them. Find a circle of friends, mentors and business partners that will help you feed into your faith. Hold each other accountable to starving your fears.
What would you do if you eliminated the fear and walked through it in faith?
Don't let your current circumstances determine the size of your dream. Let your faith be in charge of that.
